In pneumatics, cylinder mountings are often used in demanding applications with high dynamic loads. The manufacturing method determines how much they contribute to the productivity in the overall application. Since aluminum is most commonly used as the material, there are two alternative methods available: production with forged aluminum or die-cast aluminum.
Tests have shown that cylinder mountings made of forged aluminum feature superior properties – and therefore have a positive impact on the efficiency of the entire system. This is why AVENTICS relies on this type of component for important cylinder mountings. The mountings excel thanks to their high strength and ductility, as well as a long service life under high loads and resistance to corrosion and overload or brittle fractures.
With regard to their cost efficiency, cylinder mountings made of forged aluminum also manage to impress compared with their alternatives. Internal cavities such as blowholes, inter-metallic phases, or cracks cannot be avoided during the cast-metal manufacturing process. These cavities weaken the cross-section of the parts. This makes them susceptible to damage, which then quickly results in complete component failure. An additional advantage of quality products made of forged aluminum: They maintain their residual functionality for long periods, even in extreme situations, since plastic deformation occurs before a forced rupture.
Forged, not cast: AVENTICS mountings create the prerequisites for efficient, reliable applications. They remain unfazed by load changes or fluctuations in pressure, even at full capacity utilization. Quality that's worth it. Because in the end, it pays off.
